Our standard.
We design and build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That covers contrast, keyboard navigation, screen-reader semantics, focus order, and motion preferences. We are not yet WCAG-conformant across the entire site; we are working toward it iteratively.
What's in place today.
- Semantic HTML throughout — landmarks, headings, lists, real
buttonandaelements rather than divs styled to look like them. - Product imagery includes descriptive
alttext. - The cart drawer and navigation are reachable via keyboard Tab order.
- Checkout, customer accounts, and order tracking are handled by Shopify's hosted flows, which Shopify maintains under its own accessibility program.
What we know we're missing.
We're being explicit about gaps so you don't have to discover them.
- An independent third-party WCAG audit has not been performed yet (planned).
- Color contrast across all text/background pairs has not been formally verified against WCAG AA targets.
- The site does not yet honor
prefers-reduced-motion; some sections animate on scroll. - Cart state changes are not announced via ARIA live regions.
- Long-form content (journal, FAQ) has not been verified against assistive-technology reading order.

If something on this site doesn't work for you — at all, or with your assistive technology — please email hello@buttrbeauty.com with the URL, the issue, and (if you can) what assistive technology you're using. We'll respond within 5 business days and prioritize a fix.
Third-party limitations.
Checkout is hosted by Shopify; customer accounts and email signup forms are powered by Klaviyo. Both providers maintain their own accessibility programs. Issues encountered in those flows may require coordination with the upstream vendor — we'll log them and follow through.
